M&M CUSTOM I am completely cleaning this thread of ALL of the non-essential trash, and taking it back to the matter at hand.

Crosley has taken flak for doing this in the past, and I said I will step in and do the dirty work if need be.

I could have very well dumped or even deleted this thread altogether.

Crosley ==== Now the tranny problem.... a performance stall speed converter will make a tranny feel loose. A converter that is toooo loose will make the tranny feel real sloppy. that is the normal operation of a looser converter.

Tiresmoke7 As far as testing the converter you might be able to send it back to the manufacturer. I had a used TCI converter and I sent it back to TCI, they cut it open ,checked it out and restalled it for me for about 160 $.

RObs71Nova Some of you may have remembered my setup from my previous posts as of less then a week ago. The car is a 71 Nova that is mainly a street car and may see one visit to the track purely for my own curiosity. The motor is a 475-500 horsepower 454 backed by a turbo 350. The entire setup is new as of 200 or so miles ago with both the motor and tranny being rebuilt by very reputable shops. The tranny was rebuilt with all heavy duty clutches, some kind of racing sprags (34 element I think??) and a transgo shift kit. The problem im encountering (with the tranny feeling like its "sliding" into gear, unable to actually feel the tranny shift) was present as soon as the new motor, tranny.torque converter, driveshaft, etc. were put in.
As Always, any information you guys can share is greatly appreciated.

Tranny update/Torque converter question

As some of you may remember I posted a problem on this forum about a week ago where my Transmission seemed to be "sliding" into gear, even though It had all racing internals inside. Well I had the tranny pulled out and brought back to the guy who built it because it was under warranty and he would go through everything again for free. Well I got the tranny back today and he said there was absolutely nothing wrong with the tranny. He said everything was done right, all the clutches were like new (which they are), sprags fine and all the internals were new, checked, and rechecked, and everything is done right. I know he went through the tranny again because i could see all brand new gaskets/etc. on the tranny. He seems to think there is something wrong with the torque converter. How would I go about checking to see if the torque converter is any good without actually using it in the car? Is there a way? I stalled it up a few times while the car was driveable and it seemed to stall up fine. Im pretty much running outta ideas to get this tranny to run right. Any info you guys can share would be greatly appreciated as always.
