Hello folks. Quick question. I went to Pep boys last night to get a detent cable (kickdown) and the one they sold me is too short. The pic on the box sows it connecting on the driver side of the transmission. Mine connects to the passenger side. I thought all of them connected on the passenger side of a t350. What gives? Thanks guys.

I have never seen one that is on the drivers side.

However, the Buicks and Olds had the other end of the cable run to the gas pedal instead of the carb linkage. Maybe those were shorter.........not positive, but that may be the reason.

kickdown

the kickdown cable goes through the hole on the passenger side of a left hand drive vehicle, the actual gearshift cable goes on the drivers side - on a TH350. I never run them because unless adjusted perfectly you can sometimes kickdown a gear when you don't want to. The trans will kick down using the vacuum modulator when you are slowing down at the lights etc, the kickdown cable is to kickdown a gear under heavy acceleration- the same can be achieved by manually changing down with the shifter.

Poncho, I have not seen one either, But you never know. I think they just gave me the wrong one and got rid of me. Mine is supposed to hook to the pass side loop over the top of the tranny and into the side of my carb. About 2 feet too shoft.
