twistedtrik no problem, im just the type that can look past the made in china part. hell for all i know i might have been made in china. i just think that maybe somebody might have been interested in them. i drive a 74 chevy shortbed prerunner 4x4 with 35s and 3.73s. with the performer rpm it felt kinda sluggish off of the line and now i have the crosswind and that really woke this vortech motor up off of the line. while were on the subject of made in china, i was adjusting the valves on the new engine today and alot of my stuff is made in another country. alternator-mexico, electric fuel pump-china, intake-china, water pump-mexico, power steering pump-mexico. its really amazing how much equiptment is actually made in other countries.

mark2002 If you made it all the way to this message you must be as interested in the air gap discussion as I am. A few weeks ago I picked up a used (cross wind) Power Plus manifold. Air Gap is the Edelbrock name. I got it with a bunch of other parts and didn't pay much attention until I decided it would look good on my 69 Camaro small block, so I started to polish it up. About half way through the job I noticed the "Made in China" stamped on it. At that very minute I stopped polishing and put the manifold back on the shelf.
Even if the made in China was not visible when on the car, I would always know it was there and could never enjoy it. I have since decided to keep my Holley manifold and change carbs. <img src="graemlins/nono.gif" border="0" alt="[nono]" />

TurboS10 I had a Power Plus single plain intake go through my hands a couple years back and I was surprised at the quality. I have had edlebrock and Holley both, and I thinkt the power plus casing quality was just as good. And the intake was a dead ringer for a Brodix Intake. The Air gap looks like they used an edlebrock unit to build their molds. I dont know how they are getting away with it. It would be interesting for one of these guys with a dyno to check the numbers on the two and see if they perform the same.

PrimeMover twistedtrik - I stopped by Baxter's auto parts tonight and checked out the Power Plus version of the Air Gap. I gotta say there is little to NO difference! That's kinda scary considering Edelbrock must have a patent on the design. If they don't sue the guys who make these pseudo AG's real soon for patent infringment, my guess is they make an aftermarket profit from them. What's REALLY scary is the quality of the Power Plus product really isn't all that bad.

You can't buy nothin' made in the states anymore.

bullheimer first, from what i've read, if i were in the market for a new intake for a street racer it would be the air gap. second, i didnt know they made a performer air gap either. and, i think a splash guard would be just as good with an rpm, (which i am currently running, allbeit regrettably because of my weight problem-i'm a fatso) i am actually looking more towards the new low-end (rpm-wise, and i dont mean model of intake there, i mean power band) or even putting a STOCK intake on for low end torque. it pisses me off that a co like edel will slack off on QC. tenth, i dont want anything that says made in china on any of my cars. period. hell, it doesnt even have to say it as long as i know where it came from, 11th i would plan on using a die grinder on whatever i buy.

PrimeMover DV, Man I don't need that! I think I'll stick with Vic's outfit or maybe, Weiand, did I spell that right? I might just fire him off an email about the flaws I saw in the AG at the Roadster Show.

twistedtrik the power plus is made by professional products. true the ports were a little rough but nothing a dremel cant take care of. and yes they do say made in china but as far as that goes 90% of the replacement parts we buy are made in china. and if that part really bothers you its printed facing into the lifter valley so nobody is going to see it anyways. so if anybody is still interested in them the best price is probably through speedway motors.

DoubleVision Just my 2 cents on the power plus products, a customer brought me one for his car, the ports were a disaster, they looked as if they had been ground out with a hand grinder, it had "made in china" stamped on it in several places. needless to say, i didn`t like it much. as far as the MSD goes, and you don`t want any clutter on your firewall, maybe the Pertronix Flame Thrower module and coil for HEI will work for you as well as it does for me. they cost around $80 for both, and there matched to work together as a team, it works up to 7500 RPM`s. I`ve had no problem from mine, and nobody`s the wiser you have one since the stock HEI cover bolts right back on. just my 2 cents. Good Luck and Good Roddin to ya Prime.

PrimeMover S10, It really looks like I'd be loosing ground to go with the 2601. I think the RPM AG will work on my motor but I can live without all those extra one-manifold-fits-all bosses... I think my money would be better spent on a new dist. and 6AL box. I hope they come with long enough leads to go under the dash with 'em, I don't like all the cluter they create. My firewall is busy enough.

V8 S-10 I don't know like i said before I guess they took more pride in the finish of the Air Gaps when they first introduced them.

HotRod31 I just received my new RPM Air Gap and it was an insult to have "Made in America" on it. I have seen parts from third world countries look better. (visible seams, flash) I do believe it is the best dual plane manifold avalible though.

twistedtrik not that you guys want to hear my two cents as a newbie and all, but i wanted to try the performer rpm air gap. with vortech heads my price before shipping was 259.00. so i decided to try the power plus manifold. when i got it i matched it to a buddy of mines air gap. they are absolutely identical with the exception of not saying edelbrock. they fit both early center bolt and all older small block heads. i had a performer rpm and the difference is very noticable. i paid 162.00 and that included shipping for another 20.00 or so i could have went fully polished. it has the 4 corner cooling and cast in nitrous bosses. and hasnt leaked a drop.

PrimeMover I see what your saying.. It sounds like I need to research this thing a little better before I get any money out. I might just stay with the old Performer RPM. The combination I have now, pulls hard up to 5800 with an out-of-the-box 670 Street Avenger, HEI dist. and 1-5/8" Flowtech ceramic coated blockhuggers. My power band limitations are most likly due to limited distributor advance, rather then carburation and manifold flow. I've got a new 750 double pumper I'll try on the old manifold before I spring for a new Air Gap.
