Alex99 stu, like I said I'm glad I found this mistake and I will install them correctly.
Of course the mfgs make different gaskets not just for the fun of it.
You guys helped me a lot so far. Please don't misunderstand my saying of being not convinced.
I will see what happens when I put it together and make another test.

stu Ok so you aren't convinced wrong gaskets will cause any problems.
If I am correct in my assumption. Why would manufacturers go to all the trouble of making different gaskets for the same transmission?
In fact why have any gaskets at all?
Why not just dig out the old tube of silicone and make your own?
Smear it all over. As long as no holes are covered, no sweat.
Why even a gasket on the pump, or pan?
Just like Brylcream. A little dab'll do ya.

Chazmac 700R4 has two different sets of valvebody/case gaskets. The set you need must have the holes near the back of the case for the auxiliary valve body. If you installed two "V" gaskets, you will have many hydraulic problems.
I stand by my statement regarding the pressure regulator valve.
The trans will work with it ground off, but it will work fabulously better with the land intact.
Try contacting transmission shops for a distributor name for the parts Transtar sells. Then you can get the Sonnax valve.
Also Sonna has a 800 number. 800-843-2600.

Alex99 stu, I understand you.

I'm glad I found this mistake and of course I will install the correct gaskets. Maybe that was the problem, hopefully. But I'm not quite convinced.

stu I am going to type this very slowly.


When it says V that means valve body.
When it says C that means case.
Just because holes weren't covered doesn't mean diddly.
They may not correspond with passages either in the case or valve body.

Alex99 I checked the valvebody gaskets I had in the trans again and found that no hole in the seperator plate was covered, so that shouldn't be the fault.
I called the tech support of Transgo and the guy was very helpful.
I told him the results of the pressure test and he found them kind of strange.
He also said that the pressure valve has no effect on the problem that I have.
He wants me to do additional pressure tests at 1500 rpm in OD and D to see if the pressure rises.
I also called a GM dealer about a new pressure valve. They want over 60 bucks for it. I saw it online for 9$ somewhere. Crazy germans!

If anyone has ideas please share them.

Alex99 Today I opened the tranny and pulled the valvebody and the boost valve withe the pressure regulator.

All checkballs were in the correct position.

Two CBs in the valvebody in their bathtubs. Four CBs in the case in the right spots.
I also checked the governor and converter filter screens, both were clean.

I also checked all valves in the valvebody for sticking, all were moving free.

The only mistake I could find besides the ground land on the pressure valve was, that both valve body plate gaskets had a "V" on them.
I took the remaining gaskets from my rebuild kit and found two different "C" gaskets. Ive put the C on the case side and the V on the valvebody side.

I checked the plate to see if any holes were covered. Neither with the V and C gasket or with two V gaskets any holes in the plate were covered.

So I guess this cant be the reason for the misfunction.

Do you have a GM part number for the pressure valve? I`ve found a number for an updated GM version, where the land is also ground away. Its 8684048

Please check this rebuild manual that I found

The pressure valve can be seen on page 21.

Im really confused now because I cant see any mistakes beside the wrong gasket.

Chazmac Sonnax Industries makes a replacement valve Part # 77754-04K.
I do not know if they distribute in Europe directly.
Try Transtar Industries. I know they have international distribution. Try for info.

Im pretty sure I installed the checkballs correct exacty where you describe.
I will open it up tomorrow and let you know what I found.
Do you have a partnumber for a new pressure valve?

Chazmac I use 700 Pressure regulator valves unmodified. The hole is made at the factory and can be seen at the head of the valve.
A 1991 case should have 4 checkballs installed. 2 close together near the center of the case, one near the 4th accumulator bore, one in a bathtub passage under TV system. There is also a large round checkball location at the TV plunger end of the case that is usually left empty. This locatiion is at the edge of the valve body area. The bathtub location is underneath where the TV valve actually works and is about 1 inch long. There must be a ball at this location
