Okay, I'm pretty sure I got it...thanks.
Looks like it'll give me everything i'll need. But, I have an automatic, I'd have to replace the flywheel anyways, right. When I do, will the change in balancing mess with my bottom end?

The only difference in those early engines would be flywheel diameter. Some had 10" clutch some 11".
You will need to know what diameter flywheel the T56 uses and match accordingly.
Then check installed height.

|adrock430||Cool, a few question though...when you say the 283-350 all used a flywheel w/o an external balance weight, does that mean they have the same flywheel. I know its a dumb question but I'm new to transmissions completely. So, if I figure out they have the same size flywheel, I check to see the depth of the flywheel installed? And then make sure the pressure plate holes mate up. Just wanna make sure. Thanks for the help, Adam|

Get a manual trans flywheel from the same vintage as your engine. 283, 307, 305, 327, 350 all used a flywheel with no external balance weight. There whould be 350 flywheels around, lots of Camaros had Super T10's in them back then.
Check the installed height: crank surface to clutch surface. Then check the installed height for the T56 flywheel. Use care, this should be done with a depth micrometer or digital height gauge.
Make sure that the early flywheel height matches the late one.
The rest should work. Double check the pressure plate mounting holes on the flywheel.

Like Chazmac said, you should not be able to use the flywheel at all with the 305.
The flywheels from the 86 up 305 won't even work on the older engines.
I haven't really kept up on the later blocks but I know they are not compatable at all with the earlier engines.

|adrock430||Cool, I'm gonna take everything from the donor car: pedals, flywheel, clutch assembly, linkage, master cylinder, and tranny. Did I miss anything. Would there be no problems (more or less) hooking it up to the engine. THanks, adam|

|Chazmac||Chevy V8 bells have the same bolt pattern. Better check clutch spline engagement, depth, etc. The late flywheel is different from early.......|

th350 to t56
Hey, I looked on the knowledge base and couldn't find an exact answer. I want to run a t56 on my 76 monte w/ a 305. Does the t56 bellhousing bolt onto the 305? If not, is there someone who sells the bellhousing to do so. Thanks, Adam
