|jz29A||Appreciate the info problem around here I bet with in a stones throw I can go to a dozen junk yards, but almost everything is late 80 to present. I have been driving around the back roads, but have found nothing or they think they own a gold mine.|

Most Model A folks want to use a Maverick rear.
The early 5 lug Maverick with the V8 is 56 inches wide.........wheel mounting flange to wheel mounting flange. They are 8 inch Ford rears.
They work good.
I prefer a 9 inch myself.
The 9 inch has better gear selections, better parts supply and will stand more horsepower. Whenever Ford Motor Company installed more than 250 or so Horsepower.......they dumped the smaller 8 inch rear and went to the 9 inch Ford....for it's horsepower ability.
A 1957 to 1959 Ford passenger car rear is 58 inches. So is a 1966 up to the 70's Bronco. The Bronco has the old Ford 5 on 5.5 wheel pattern That's what I have under my 32 .
If you are running fenders........56" - 57" is perfect.
No fenders......No problems......

|email@example.com||57" is about perfect for the '29 but there is a lot more about a rear end than width. I am not familiar w/ the early 50s Ford rear but have never heard of it discussed as a desirable rod unit. Typically truck rears, especially early 50s, are quite low ratios, 4:11 and lower. That isn't desirable for the street. Is this a banjo style or Hotchkiss with removable carrier. If the former and that is the look you are going for, you had better plan on an OD tranny. If it is the latter, pass on it and look for a later model Maverick or '57 - '59 Ford 8" or 9".|

rear assembly for a 29 model A tudor
I have recently started this project and have got on many forums, I got the frame boxed and in the process of looking for a rear assembly. I have found a assembly from a 52-54 ford pick up measures 57 inches flange to flange but do not know any more about it. only #'s I have found I believe are patent # 1988619 also found 18418 and 137 can anyone help me on this will it work on this project.
