NorthStar This isnt a boneyard core that youre going to try installing into a "some vehicle" right? Theres other differences between engines too like bolt holes in ends of cyl heads, cam bearings, intake ports, balance shaft, cranks and rod weights. So you would really be sticking your neck out trying to do that.

Just to be sure what is your block casting number?

Oil ring groove depth
.155 = shallow
.190 = deep

When ordering parts you have to know the vin code, year model, and engine plant it was built in.

Look at the stamped number on right bank should be a letter R or T on there.
We can figure out the year from casting number.

deep oil groove

i am rebuiling a 4.3 it has 2 piece rear main and centerbolt valve cover and it was tbi which confuses me i thought that didn't go together anybody got any idea on why and my main ? is what does deep oil groove rings mean and can i use them or do i need shallow i dunno what year the motor is thank you
