Another addition to the collection

Well I added 2 more cars to my ever growing collection of cars tonight.
Kevin45(thanks again Dad!) and I went and picked up my '66 Olds and in addition to buying it I got a nice little '91 Escort GT for free. Red with aluminum wheels and grey interior. 4cyl/5spd...the only hitch...No title. Long story, but if anyone in Ohio knows anything about applying for a lost title please PM me. I was just going to part this car out, but since it is so clean I thought that I would maybe fix it and drive it as a work car.
The '66 on the other hand :mwink: Is a running, driving, mostly all original cruiser. It has good heat, cold factory AC, minimal body rot, I have to fix a spot on the quarter that got whacked, mostly it will be a work-in-progress/daily driver.
2 door, 425(SuperRocket) big block Olds, 3 speed automatic trans, it also has good glass, decent trim, decent interior(needs a headliner). It starts and runs smooth as could be, other than the fact that there is about 6 years of 30mph driving, so it could use a tune up and a few quick trips down the highway to clean it out some.
Its too late tonight to post any pics, but tomorrow, I will snap a few shots of them both and let everyone check out my newest treasures.
On a side note...Don't you love it? The gas keep rising and I am putting a V8 in about everything I own. Makes a lot of sense huh?!

Way to go on your free car dude. I think it makes perfect sense to put a v8 on everything you own. Hell I got a lawn mower out back thats about dead, that I would love to put a v8 on. Im not sure how Im gonna get it all to work, but as soon as the 20hp motor on it kicks over, Im going to the junk yard and finding me a cheap engine that will run!

Nice snag dude.......

I think you could go thru that place in tenn for a title. They advertise in hemmings. I think it cost like $200 or so. but if that car is clean it will be well worth it....

You might want to go to a notary and have them run the vin maybe they can get you a name also....

Title

To the best of my knowledge it's legal if you follow the rules.... I did hear something about boyds deal but i am not sure what he was really doing???? The deal with going to Tenn is it's up to you to do the leg work to make sure the car wasn't hot.....

Was the deal with boyd something like he was selling the cars as orginal and in fact they were reproductions with a orginal title???? That would be illegal..

I have the title to the Olds...
I don't think any Escort is worth $200 just to get a title to. Besides the tranny is toast in it. Not worth the time or effort to me to fix it. It has been stripped of about all the decent parts and will be junked within the next few days. I used the wheels and speakers on my Civic daily driver, and pulled the elctric slider sunroof and buckets seats along with some other odds/ends parts.
The Olds on the other hand will be driven quite a bit. I will do work to it as I drive it. First thing that will be done will be fixing the rust on the driverside. I would like to find some decent wheels and tires to slap on it. If anyone knows anything about these cars, I am curious to see how wide of a tire/rim I can squeeze in the back and front.
This is what started the whole thing about me buying the car from ny wifes grandfather.

I saw it at Goodguys last year and absolutely loved it, so i started asking her Grandfather about his. Turns out he did want to sell it.
Also this is the current stage of my truck.

I am pushing to have it driveable within the next month or so.

Boyd got busted for Tax reasons. He was selling $100'000 - $xxx'xxx cars and telling the tax people that they were originals, so they would then pay taxes on a $20'000-$30'000 car. All of the cars were legally registered and titled, but the value was waaaaay underestimated.
As far as the Tenn. thing, If I am going to do all of the legwork to get a title, I would save my $200 and have the DMV just issue me a new title myself. Anyone can apply for a lost title, you just have to pay the fees and wait it out, until you get a new one in the mail. The Title Office actually does the work for you. Like I said...the car isn't worth it. There is a long story behind why there isn't a title to the car, I am not going to go into detail about it, but It has to do with family members doing some work for other family members and not getting paid.
