Do they work, are they worth the cash? Sounds like a good thing if you read their advertisements but I'd like to hear some experienced opinions.

Thanks

Noisy like a rod knock or what, doubt that would sound too cool.
Anyways I am pushing the limits of getting any vacuum for my brakes so that would be a good thing if they work. Would also be cool to increase to increase the bottom end a bit. If they do work as they say I have to wonder why everyone does not use em.

Definetely noisier, sounds more like worn internals than like solid lifters, but as far as producing more vacuum and low end torque I can vouch for it. We put them on a overcammed 289 ford years ago and also advanced the cam a bit,
made it run a heck of a lot better than it did.
Of course the motor was built totally wrong overcarbed and overcammed with a stock torque converter. With the rhoads lifters it was considerably better (clickier too)

Yay!!! I've got a set in a 390GT with over 70,000mi on them so aside from all the other favorable remarks above they last too! Put a set of 2 1/2 in. Flowmaster Header mufflers on it you'll never here the ticking, or much else for that matter!!! :D

I just took a set out of my son's ElCamino 'big block' Apparently someone tightened them too much and they [one] ate the cam...car just never sounded right like it had a knock under certain loading...seems the worn lifter might have been allowing leakage and either pre-detonation or hot air leakage anyway we put in a new performance cam and lifters and it now sounds like Chevy and run out nice. I suggest they can be problematic you gotta know what your doing

I purchased a 69 corvette 427 390 HP that was being restored and never been started since restoration and engine rebuild. I didn't know the engine builder and previous owner had installed rhodes lifters in it. Man was I shocked when it started. I thought the engine was coming apart, but it had good oil pressure. Its a very bad sound and I hate it, Maybee it will be quieter with the hood on. It does seem to have a lot of low end torque and power.I just don't think I will be able to stand the awful noise. This car has stock mufflers and is very quite so all you hear is the lifters.
