|woodz428||You should be able to get by without it, especially in Texas. It's purpose is to increase exhaust flow through the intake manifold while it warms and then the bi-metal spring opens it as the heat transfers through ,so it is open most of the time (once again...especially in Texas).|

do i need the heat riser
i have an old 62 caddy that i had apart for a while and i lost the heat riser for the exhaust. do i need to purchase one or can i just bipass it?
i found one new for $108- for what a spacer? <img src="graemlins/boxing.gif" border="0" alt="[boxing]" />
