hey guys i want to put a fiberglass cowl hood on my 68 chevyII nova. who makes the best fitting best looking hood. i want to keep it as a bolt on. i hear harwoods lift off hoods look really bad but the bolt ons are ok, well any help is appreciated. thanks Scotti
I have a 69 nova that I just put a metal cowl hood on. I thought about the fiberglass but after looking at them wondered how they work with the heavy springs I have. They didn't seem sturdy enough to close well. They might just need diff. springs. Check out this hood price though. $300 even for a new 3" cowl hood. Fits well and very well made. I couldn't even find one close to that price local or on line. Got it from Legends LLC 916-806-0923. Don't know the shipping cost as the owner drops parts of to me as he heads thru Portland Or. to diff. swap meets. He is out of california. Don't want to change your mind though if you want a fiberglass.
I installed a Harwood cowl, cut the hole, reinforced it with aluminum and glued the cowl in place. The cowl is also pop riveted, they were countersunk and do not show. The paint shop smoothed it all out and painted it.
It helps to pull the hood up in the middle, but slight twisting and the occasional slam has not hurt it.
I HAVE A FIBERBOY ON MY 70 NOVA EXCELLENT QUALITY FAR SUPERIOR THAN HARWOOD, MIKE.. WEBSITE IS WWW.FIBERBOYFIBERGLASS.COM , I THINK IT MIGHT BE JUST FIBERBOY.COM HOPE THIS HELPS.
