They make a underdash radio mount, sort of a holder, that screws to the bottom of the dash. I bought one of these and cut it to fit the glovebox then I used the metal supports that came with the radio, usually used to secure the radio behind the dash, to support the cardboard glovebox. Then ran small bolts through the holder to the supports to mount the radio in the glove box.
It would probably work better if you put a flat piece of sheet metal behind the cardboard then run screws through that.

Henry Highrise Yep! They were made out of a thin cardboard type material. A auto upolstery shop should have some of that material as they also use it for door panels and kick panels. You could make one out of aluminum then it would last and last.

glove box

Need help!! I took my dash apart and I need to replace the interior of my glove box. It is hammered and I am not sure what to do with it. I plan on hiding a disk changer in it eventually. What are they making them out of and where do I get it? I want to make sure I use the right materials. I'm worried abou the heat thing. I have a 1952 merc and it seems like the old one is cardboard. Anyone have any suggestions?
