i have a 73 plymouth duster with a slant six 225. im gonna switch it out for a small block v8. preferably a 340. i dont know what all is going to have to change. the cross member, tranny and rearend... the tranny is a 3spd auto the rear end is a 8 1/4. can i switch the pumpkin and make it posi... any help will be greatly appreciated... chris
Hi Chris, in 1973 the 340 Duster came stock with an 8-1/4 rearend, so you can diffently use it. Sunnit racing carries a mopar performance suregrip unit for it for around $225. You may want to change your ring & pinion at the same time depending on the ratio you have now. I'm not sure about the tranny, if it's a 727 you're good to go.
