KNanthrup yeah .480 is the standardized max. as mentioned, check coil bind. and if you want to run a bigger cam than .480 then you can have a machine shop do a little cutting to make it work for you. i think there are a few online shops that sell them ready for .520 lift

lluciano77 If you do run .480" check for coil bind once the cam is installed. It only takes a few more minutes and it is cheap insurance.

under937 Thank you for your reply, i've done numberous research since buying the heads, only to find that most people were very conservative. I pulled the springs off and checked them and came up with clearence for around .480, but was doubting my abilities for 1 second.

67 Deuce 4 Me .480 is the max. I verified that question through G.M. when I bought my vortec heads a few yrs ago.

vortec lift

im trying to pick a cam for my vortec headed small block. Iwas wondering fi .420 lift is the absolute max lift with the stock springs i can run. Iwas wanting run one of the new lunati voodoo cams with these heads in stock form, the car is going to be daily driven.
