wayneair i found a guy that cc'd a few sets of 193 heads, found'em to be 64 cc heads. would that be about like the first pic?

coldknock Ok, use the ones similar to the first pic that you have in the shop right now.

Get the block "Zero Decked", tell your machinist and he'll know what to do.

Use pistons with two valve reliefs and any decent head gaskets that are 0.038-0.041" thick. That should give you enough compression for the cam and still use pump gas. Somewhere around 9.7-1 I'd guess.

wayneair i think they're like the first but not sure. they're at the shop right now i have another set of heads like the second one.

coldknock A 600cfm carb and a dual plane intake would be wiser choices.

The pistons/compression ratio would depend on the combustion chamber size. I can't find any reference to the chamber size of those heads. They're mid/late '80s EFI heads with 1.94/1.50 valves.

Are your combustion chambers shaped like this


or this


It would be better if your chambers were like the first pic.

First build. Need advice.

ok, this is what i've got:
350 block bored .030
stock heads cast #193 (??cc)
stock crank std/std polished
holley 750 cfm double pumper man. chk.
torker II intake
melling cam .320 i & e lobe lift, 230 dgree i & e @ .050, .480 i & e vlv lift
stock rods
elgin high perf. springs that are verrry close to what melling recomends
i'm looking at speed pro hypereutectic coated pistons

i want to build a fun go-fast with some reliablity so i can also drive to work 2-3 times a week.

awe righty, now my 1st qwestion:

what pistons should i get so i can still run pump gas and not detonate my shiney new pistons to ittie bittie piston pieces? and not lose ponies? and any sugestions on which way to go on the build overall from more experienced builders is good too. any and all help greatly appreiceated.
