How do remove motor mounts from frame?

I am doing the 54 chev to s10 frame swap. I am dropping in a 350, I have to replace the motor mounts on the frame to 2.8l mounts. I have tried to remove them but there is a nut on the other end of the bolt and no way to get at it with a wrench.
Do I really have to remove the shock and spring to do this?

If I remember right the JTR swap book suggested using a hole saw and cutting a hole so that the nut can be gotten to on the side of the frame mount. I was able to spin mine off with an impact (got lucky) and instead of replacing that bolt when the new mounts were installed I took the easy way out and welded them in place...

In a g-body, you have one little access hole in the front of the frame you can easily do one and maybe two if you are lucky, then you have to go between the lower control arm and the frame to get at the other two. I handed my 85 Regal off to a shop to mess with them. They are hard enough with the motor out I can't imagine doing them with the motor in. oh well I didn't have to do them and they got beat by the flat rate.

Oh man that sucks on GMs! I just did it on a '74 Camaro without removing the lower triangle.2 good guys, the one under with a wide assortment of 3/8" extensions, wobble sockets, ratchets, pry bar etc.Take your time, curse the engineers, drinks, snacks and luck.
