You gotta realize yer dealin with a cheap Irishman here. I got a couple sets of Corvette Rallyes laying around here waiting for a ride. I'd rather spend buck to save a dime, Ya know? Besides, I got a front disc setup just begging to be installed.

wait a second dude,
they have vette type rally's available for you six lug bolt pattern, so don't go crazy. Check out summit racing, I believe one of the manufacturers for wheels has such a thing.

|mooneyes4b||gmc should be leaf springs..but the 6 bolt is right..didnt change to 5 on 5 till 71|

Ya might be right, I can't say for sure. All I can tell you is the wheels are 6 lug now, and I wanna be 5 lug on 4 3/4 pattern. The truck looks like a virgin and the emblems all say 1500. Beyond that, I dunno.

|trees||Me thinks you might have a "mixed up GMC". I thought they had leaf springs and 5 on 5 lugs. This seperated the GMC from the Cheby. And the 6 luggers were 3/4 ton. Humm, am I mixed up???|

Yup, thats what I did to the 57, but the mounts for the trailing arms on the 70 GMC are angled (its got coil springs). Thought maybe an axel change might be the easiest way out, just don't know how many different lenghts there are. Thanks for the input.

I simple rolled a 1983 Camaro rear end under mine. Cost me $120 to install, ended up with 5 on 4 3/4 bolt pattern.I had to buy two new "Morso" spring pad mounts, which i welded into place at the right angle. Works great for me.

6 lug to 5 lug on my shortbed
1st time posting here, so please be gentle with me. I'm trying to change my 1970 GMC 1/2 ton from 6 lug axels to 5 lug passenger car axels to get a 4 3/4 inch wheel pattern, so I can use some Corvette Rallyes I've got lying around. I seem to remember the 10 bolt axels from a Chevelle, GTO, 442 are exactly the same, but don't know fer sure. Truck axels won't do me any good, cause they're on a 5 inch center, and my buddy's suggestion that I drop the body on a later frame won't fly, cause this is just a driver I'm useing till my 57 shortbed rolls out of the garage. Anybody out there have a Hollander book, or know what the deal is, or do I spend my golden years driving the guy at the wrecking yard crazy? Thanks in advance
