I have a pair of 275/50/15's that I would like to have put on my stock steel rims (1970's ish ford rims) I am not sure of the rim width I think 6-6.5. but according to summit, recommended width is 7.5-9.5. could this work on this size rim or what would be the dangers by mounting on a thinner rim than suggested. thanks in advance

You're going to waste quite a bit of that expensive tire. It will not deliver the performance or the tread wear that it should because it will be distorted. The sidewalls will be tapered toward the beads more than they should, resulting in more squirm, more wear and more lag between steering input and actual change in direction. The tread will not lay as flat as it should, resulting in less traction and uneven wear. If you under-inflate it to get rid of the center bulge the narrow wheels cause, it will overheat quicker, respond slower and wear faster.
