OneMoreTime Go here for the kits I have seen Jim's work and it is as good as anyone out there that I know of..

I would use one on my project if I needed one..

There may be some others doing this as well..

OMT, can you tell me of website of a manuf. that has those kits? I would like to check em out.

I have also been debating the Jag XJ-6 front suspension....I have a complete unit and it is all bolt in....nice unit.....I know that parts get expensive, but they are very plentifull in the yards.....

OneMoreTime Just a suggestion..there are now front end kits that use the late model Caprice spindles and brakes..those are substaintly less then the MII as one gets the big late model brakes and it is all OTC GM parts..

xntrik First I do not know how your suspension compares to the Chevy. There are lots of info out there for them. I would think that the ideas about conversions would be similar.

My conclusion about MII front ends is that if you retain the factory style strut rod that the suspension design is good. Aftermarket kits are available front or rear steer. Heavier constructed parts might be to your advantage since your car is heavier than a MII.

streetrod27T Actually it owuld proabably be cheaper and easier making your own conversion kit. Making a moutning braket for the calliper is realtively easy from there you just need find a stock rotor that will fit your spindle once you find the right part number get those parts from a slavage yard you can pick um cheap then get new rebulit ones from the auto parts store. The reason you get the old ones that may or may not be any good is for mock up and they will save you a ton on core chargers when your ready to put the new stuff on.

Disk brake conversion are not diffcult at all. Unless you want baer 6 caliper with 13" cross drilled and slotted rotors. then you can get up there. but for a driver espically a 55 pontiac. (I am assuming your not running any 20" + open wheel designs) its the perfect way to go. If your worried about weight check into pick up calipers and rotors.

BUt like my freinds suburban it cost him 35 bucks a caliper for rebulit ones at the part store but the core charge was 50 bucks. so that an option you might want to look into.

55 Chieftain front suspension help!

I have been reading post from the archives via the search function for hours...nay days, and there seems to be quite a bit of differing views on converting to the MII front suspension!
Is the 55 Pontiac too heavy for an aftemarket Mustang II front end? Some say yes, some say no! I will be pulling the stock V8 and putting in a 350ci SBC and 200-4R. I want disks up front and there appears to be a complete lack of conversion parts for brakes on these, I figured that even if there was a brake kit, by the time I payed for that, and overhauled the front suspension/steering, I would be amost to a new MII kit ($$ wise).
So, if a MII would be a good fit, then any recommendations on which vendor would be best?
