The hunt is on.

A big thanks for the info. A friend that is into that type of car says all GM " G " body should be the same except maybe the pitman arm. Once more, Thanks.

LittleTruck My father-in-law also installed a Saginaw unit in our 32 Ford truck. Having not driven it yet, I can't vouch for it, but it is generally recommended for larger heavier cars over the lighter Vega unit, so it may be a good choice for you.

trees Years ago, I used a Saginaw box from a 69 Olds Cutlass. Three of the 4 mounting holes fit the Old Ford frame and the pitman arm was the same length and correct vertical distance/angle. I may have done something with the hole in the arm that received the tierod end but can not remember. This box is almost like power steering in comparison to the original Ford box!!

Fat fender Ford steering

Has anyone used a manual steering gear other than the original Ford or Vega. I have split wishbone and drop axle with stock gear that steers hard. I was wondering if some later manual gear would have better ratio that would make it turn easier.
