|bigun||When I was a kid my dad used a piece of all thread some big nuts, washers, a pipe nipple and piece of steel that was just smaller than the wrist pin to remove a piston on his old Corvair van. I can't remember heating anything of course back then all we had was a propane torch.|

For non floating pins?
A fixture is used in a press. The fixture holds the piston/rod assembly in place and an arbor is inserted into the pin. Arbor is then pushed thru under pressure, forcing the pin thru the rod end and piston pin bore.
To assemble the rod "eye" is heated, the pin is quickly inserted and captured as the rod cools.
