HotRodF100 I have worked on a few older GM anti-theft systems in the past. My brother had the resistor in the key type in his 86 Camaro. All that does is measure the key resistor and enable or not enable a relay mounted in the drivers side kick pad. Here is what I did to my wifes car: Go to Radio Shack and buy a magnetic switch used for a door security switch. One half is a magnet, the other half is a magnetic switch. Mount the switch part under the console or behind the dash (the plastic part of course). You wire the magnetic switch to 12V and then to a relay coil. The relay contacts go in series with the coil, computer, pink wire under the dash, whatever. You have to hold the magnet on the right place to get the engine to start. It is just like a system sold in the past called "The Silent System". It also qualified for the insurance discount! This was concidered for the discount because you had to use the magnet and you couldn't defeat it like an ignition kill switch. No fancy bells or whistles but it worked. It also freaked a few people out when you start it, especially if you disguise the magnet so you don't know what it really is. HotRod

gbovaird Well about the gm theft thing. I called on ONSTAR, and they would not help me because i wasnt a GM technition. Seems they only answer these type of questions for the people who actually install them. Monday i am going to a local dealership to find such a guy.

Keyless Entry

Hello Gang,

I need some help finding some information concerning '96 Sebring keyless entry troubleshooting. I have the factory manuals & have signed up to a web site. When asked if they would look at the problem the local Chrysler folks said to call them back. The books do not define the 'gray areas'.

2nd question.

Has anyone installed the GM theft deterent system in a rod? This looks like a good way to wire a car so you can keep it. We are building a touring tee.

Thanks for your help.
