It's coming along. I've made a couple of changes in the past week, like bolting the cab directly to the frame instead of using angle brackets and making a homemade altenator bracket to mount the altenator lower and closer to the engine. In answer to your last question, if you're still thinking of using an S-10 frame. I don't think there'll be too much stress on the front end and bearings with 2" spacers. Off roaders use them all the time with good results. With 2" spacers on each side of the front wheels, it will bring your stance out to almost 60". Along with the 60" rear from a 4X4 S-10, you should be good to go. If you still need to fill out the fenderwell, go with a wider tire.

IN the Chevy trks 47-54 I've used Camaro & G body clips(78-88). The G body's clips are approx 3" narrower,thus are the same track as the original trk.
Thus, if your current track is aroung 58" you might consider the G body clip.Here are some more pictures http://220.127.116.11/web/photos/default.aspx

|shine||i've clipped many early chevy trucks. the camaro will work fine. just a tad wide . all 70 up camaro's were front steer. the s10 works well also. i'm using one under a 46 ford sedan i'm building.|

Those ideas have crossed my mind however my thinking is that one would be over taxing wheel brg., steering and suspension? What ya think?

I hear what your saying however from the stock front I have a 4,3/4 track width difference from the S/10 front frame clip and one issue that concerns me is that the wheel will set inside the fenderwel to far and look weird.
What ya think?

I had the same problem with my 52 Ford F-1 pick up when I swapped out the frame to an S-10 frame. The original Ford rearend width was 60 inches, the S-10 is only 55 1/2 inches. I've swapped my rearend to an S-10 4X4 rear because it's 4 inches wider (59 1/2 inches). Both the S-10 and the S-10 4X4 rears have the same spring perch measurements (40 1/2 inches), so it's a direct swap. For the front width I used a 1 inch spacer on each front wheel. That shouldn't cause too much stress on the spindles.

I've been scratching my head and pacing the floor as what to do and with that I got wondering if the market had any products to update,such as power steering,suspension for the late 40's and early 50's Chevy?

|JerryK||I have a friend that bought a 50 Ford car (should be near the same as your Chevy) with an S10 front clip in it. He seems satisfied with how it drives but unhappy with the looks. It is too narrow for those cars in my opinion. I have clipped several cars and a pickup with mid 70's Camero type clips that have worked great and are a bargain considering the end result. One thing you need to consider when measuring is the desired ride height. Some cars have plenty of tire to fender clearance at the stock ride height but it may change a lot when you lower the front end. Good luck!|

Do some measuring of the steering box on the S10 frame. The s10's are front steer and the box may get in the way of the fenders when you put them back on. The F car subs are rear steer and the box isn't a factor for fender clearance. You may want to look for a 2nd gen Camaro/Firebird/Nova front sub to solve ALL of your problems. Another option may be one of the full framed mid-size cars. 4th gen Monte Carlos, Grand Prix, Cutlass and Buick Regals have a fairly wide stance and may work for you also.
The rear track width can be adjusted with rim offset but the front is another thing. You don't want to push the wheels outboard to far because of bearing wear and bump steer that is induced by the increased lever arm of the offset wheel. Keep the track width as close to stock as possible in front (a little wider won't hurt anything)
