If it is a servo seal , that means it has to be totally rebuilt, because there is more than one seal in the trans, each clutch pack has them. So to totally eliminate the problem its a total rebuild.

mauserbull The fluid level is correct. What kind of cost am I looking at to replace the servo seal? I am smart enough to have installed the tranny but that was plug and play, not trouble shoot and fix. thanx again

That is a vent tube , nothing should come out of it, you may have a servo seal leaking slightly and aerating the fluid and making the level too high.
But first of all check the fluid with truck level and dead cold and make sure it is not overfilled.

Turbo 400 Leaking from vent

Hello all. I am not very well versed in the field of automatic trannies. My 1979 GMC 3500 454 t-400 will leak from the little tube at the top of the tranny when the truck is running and parked on a down slope. Level ground or upslope no leaking. Not running no leaking. When running the leak gets progressively worse with time. The tranny is a reman and doesn't have but mabey 5000k and 1000k of towing. Is this tube an overpressure relief? Why would it do this? Please use technical and layman terms to help.
