Does anyone have a recommendation based on experience in installing a 3 point seat belt in a 36 Ford Coupe?

What structurally do you need to attach the third point? Could you replace the wooden body brace with square steel tubing and if so, what bracing would be required....Any pics you could offer would be much appreciated...Thanks..

Excellent question! I'm considering the same for my '47 Ford coupe. The door pillar has a pretty small cross-section. My concerns are more along the lines of: will it do more harm than good to have a shoulder belt? I think the anchor point won't be so hard, just making sure we don't get hurt worse in an accident that we would with just a lapbelt...

3 Point Follow Up

I had not thought of the ramifications being greater injury....but I guess your right...If the 3point came loose and the structual bracing decided to wrap itself around you, injury could be greater.

I'm just not familiar with bracing setup on late model cars with 3 point...May be someone else will weigh in on the subject....
