Congrats Kid just turned 16 on the 20th and got my permit 2 days ago. NJ law require 6 hours of driving with an instructor which I completed in three days. (2 hours per day.) And i don't get my liscense untill April 20 2007. So let my count doun begin.....349,348,347,346,345,344. This week get better for me too (not to brag or rain on your parade) but on the ninth i get sworn in as an official member of the local volunteer fire dept.
Man, are guys lucky. back in the 50, (Ga.) at 15 you had to go to G S P hq. and take a test to get a learners permit, which was good for a yr. Then at 16 you had to go take a ride ( doin the driving) with a GSP officer which made you or broke you.
I remember when my oldest dau. came up for a weekend after reachin 16, I took her down and she got her lic. When she went home Sunday eve. her mother called me and said "she can't drive" I said really, the state said she could, even gave her a lic.
Have a great time, but alway remember, driving is a privilege, not a right.
Well guys tommorrow is the day, just gotta get through my last 2 exams then off to the DMV, wish me luck. BTW MY 16TH BIRTHDAY IS TOMMORROW!!!! Gonna have some fun this weekend
Congrats. Now behave yourself so you can keep em. I got my license on my first try. Wasn't really too hard for me. I took my test in the small town where I grew up and don't think I had to even take a left turn. There were no spots where there were two cars with a space between to test my parallel parking. So road test officer says pretend there is a car behind that one and parallel park. But about 5 years after I got my license I kept getting myself in trouble and had a hard time keeping my license for awhile.
