Ididit Shorty Steering Column Question

This is a little hard to explain verbally, and I don't have my camera here so can't take a picture. Here goes....I'm using an Ididit Shorty column on my Deuce 5 window project. I have the column mounted in the car and am in the process of measuring for the joints and linkage needed to hook the column to the steering, which is a rack & pinion unit in a Kugel indy front end. It's a fairly straight shot and I should be able to get by with one u-joint and one support bearing between the firewall and the rack. I will be using 3/4 inch X 36 splined steering shafting. My delimma is how best to finish off the hole in the firewall where the 3/4 inch shaft will come through. There is a flange bearing on the inside of the firewall, but how is the best way to finish off the other side so that there's not just a 3/4 inch shaft poking through a raw hole? Everything I've seen in pictures and at shows involves longer columns that have the end of the column sticking through the firewall and thus present a more finished look. Has anybody else confronted this problem when using a Shorty column? Thanks

No real help from me ...

I always use a GM van tilt column ... and they are longer than the Ididit short one. I do make a cover ... to cover over the hole ... because the hole is larger than the column diameter ... to allow for the shifter arm ...
