got er open

i got it open..had my own man pull on it while i poped the latch came right open..after that we lubed it with refrigerant oil lol it aint never gonna need lube again lol

Magnus_Jager There should be a lever in front of the radiator, towards the center. You may be able to reach up from underneath and move it to pop the hood. Since you said the handle is loose it sounds like the cable broke. Also try popping it with your hand incase it is stuck open, but stuck in place.

Good luck. I once ripped the grill out of a 78 volare with my bare hands over a stuck hood, and bad ignition relay. Not the best access for sure.

THere are some pics of the open hood on a 5th ave on Ebay that should help you identify what your after. It will be a short bar with some bicycle cable hooked to it. (at least my experience with older mopars says it should be.)

baddbob It may be as simple as having some one lift up on the hood while you pull the release. Lube up that latch before you shut it down. Also adjust the hood bumpers if needed. If that doesn't work try taking the grille out for access, maybe you can see the latch bolts or striker bolts to remove.

need help..cant get diplomat hood open

hi yall..i just bought a 1980 dodge diplomat type s and i cant get the hood ope n ...its like the latch is just looose as all get out and i cant see anything i can pull near the grille to get it open....its really annoying cause i need to get to work in the morning and when you cant jump it cause the hood wont open it gets real intresting...thanks ahead of time yall...GOTH
