ok, i have the option to get a model A chassis, suspension, front fenders/grille shell, most of the engine and tranny. what i need to know are multiple things:
are car and truck frames the same? if not, how can i tyell?
what should i check out prior to taking it? like, what are the main things that go wrong with the suspension and frame? i wont be using the drivetrain, so that doesnt matter.
lastly, anyone have a pickup cab?
thanks, guys.

Look for obvious things like cracks, bending, etc. Model 'A' frames are quite puny. If you're building a street rod with a modern V-8 engine you'll want to box it in and it still will be plenty flexy. I'd recommend building a copy of that frame from 3" X 2" X .120" rectangular tubing. I've built several of these and they're far better than the original. I used the original front frame horns on mine so the fenders were a perfect fit. You'll notice that the rear crossmember on the original is a channel shape with the toes down. I suggest making a "C" kickup over the rear axle on a tube frame. This will allow the rear of the frame to sit at a lower height. If you don't do this the rear axle housings will hit the underside of the tube
frame or the car will sit too high if you allow adequate clearance. I'll try to answer any other questions you have if you post them here.
