I was woundering if anybody knows of a
company who makes a silicone or rubber
gasket for the pan gasket for the aluminum
powerglide??? I've found that the other type
of gaskets don't seal like they should and don't last as long.
(unless something wrong with my tranny)
If anyone knows where i can purchase one let me know.
Thanks for any help...

Also the car is a '63 impala 230cid (stock) mostly a weekend
driver.....I've just found that after a couple months the gasket
starts to leak, couple drops at a time, but drop by drop becomes
a puddle... :(

we buy ours from APD and they sell the plastic type reusable and the cork style, but 90% of our trans rebuilds get the cork type and our pan gaskets NEVER leak,

the trick is torquing the bolts to 100 in lbs, it doesn't have to be exactly 100 but it is more important that they are all torqued the same and that is is not overtightened and squished out, try borrowing an inch pound torque wrnech

And make sure the pan's sealing surface is not bent.
brand new pan, no bends, i'll try and see if i can get a hold
of a torque wrench since i don't have one, maybe thats what
the problem is.....thanks ill keep you posted on results.

Also i had another question where can i purchase some
of the gasket material sheets to make my own gaskets....
i've always wanted to try and make my own, specially since
a lot of the auto parts stores sometimes they don't carry
just that specific gasket that you need.....

Just use a standard cork gasket. They're cheap and work well. Just be sure to tighten everything in a cirlce motion, not that star pattern like you would when you tighten lug nuts for your wheels, you could warp your pan if you do it via the star pattern. Just snug them up if you can't get a hand on a torque wrench, not too tight though, just a nice snug fit. Be sure to go around the pan 3 times when you're tightening since the gasket will compress and you'll need to tighten it slightly more each pass around, just to get everything tightened evenly.
