cucumber1949 I believe the 'F' and 'L' leads on Doc's diagram are reversed. The 'L' lead should be used with a lamp or a resistor in place of the lamp, and the 'F" should be a system when there is no charge lamp in the system. This is how an automotive electrics tech explained it to me and how I have it hooked up on my rod - has been running quite a while now with no problems.

84cutlass so is it ok to run the red S wire to the back terminal on the alternator then run a seperate wire from the terminal directly to the battery this is where im some what unsure

i have a 1984 cutlass with a chevy 350 engine ,i added the serpentine set up off a 91 1500
Not sure about the wiring, but did you switch out water pumps. With a serpentine system you have to run a reverse flowing water pump. Just want to make sure before you have a heating problem.

1 more cs130 wiring question

i have a 1984 cutlass with a chevy 350 engine ,i added the serpentine set up off a 91 1500 is it okay to hook the thick red wire from the plug to the back of the alternator and run a heavy guage wire from the terminal in back of the alternator to the battery also i spliced the brown idiot light wire directly to the L wire on the plug is this correct. i turned the key to the on position to see if the light came on and it did so is it correctly wired thanks
