I'm sure you could just clean and re-grease it and put new seals in. That should take care of any major problems you might have.

GypsyR "Fox body" =1979-1993 Mustangs.
There exist manual gearboxes for Rangers. Rare but available the first 5 years or so the Rangers were produced. Just like the power steering boxes, they are swappable onto any Ranger up until they changed over to rack and pinion steering in the 90's. Good luck finding one of these boxes, they are only found on the absolute bare bones base model Rangers. They didn't seem to be really popular. You could also use the VERY rare 80-82 F100 optional manual gearbox but you'd have to swap the Pitman arm out for yours.

Explain "Foxbody".

Tominator You really need Foxbody Mustang btackets. They are dif and easy to find.

Don't hesitate yo use a BFH on the lower firewall area about where the throttle pedal mounts.

AC/DC To begin with, the motor would not go down all the way. I had to take the A/C power steering pump bracketry off so it would clear the steering box. A manual box would be so much easier. I don't know if there is a difference in brackets on 302s but mine is out of a 1990's Bronco 4X4. To tell you the truth, I need to hack off a tab on the drivers side of the bell housing to get the motor back a little more and I haven't tried to put the A/C power steering pump back on. Time ran short on me that day.

Tominator My '95 with a 5.0 still has the PS. What type of problems are you expecting here as no mods to the PS are required for this swap,

Deuce Check with the local parts house ... to see if they offer a replacement box ... without power. I believe all those Fords were standard with PS ... but I could be mistaken ...

Ford Ranger manual steering box ?

Does Ford or anybody make a non-power steering box for a 1996 Ford Ranger? Long story short,I'm putting a Ford V8 in my 1996 Ranger and a manual steering box would be much easier to do.
