MARTINSR Yeah, stay conventional, forget about ANY HVLP. I literally bought a house twenty years ago spraying cars with a Devilbiss JGA-502 (the best gun ever made in my opinion) and a 2Hp 20 gallon tank compressor!

I see them all the time on Ebay for twenty or thirty bucks.

jcclark If you want a small air user definetly look at the conventional guns,
HVLP's love air and use a lot of it.
I recommend this to people a lot when thay have a small compressor.

I used one for years with a tiny compressor, they take low cfm and can
spray at less than the psi suggested and still give a great finish.
At the lower psi the cfm goes way down.
I sprayed with around 30 to 35 psi and had a 3/4 hp compressor keep up.
I painted several cars that way when I was first starting.

milo If your going for the satin look as you say you can pull it off with a pretty small air source since you can do a little wait and do a little more and your not trying to get a full wet coat on the whole thing at once . The only time you need big air is when clear coating ..

One of the medium qulity guns you see posted as purple HF would be the right choice for now.
With the coaches we have here 24/7
all will be well

Got any pics of the project?
