|jpd37||I just installed a manual system on my 37 Ply and I installed a proportioning valve on the rear brake line immediately afterthe MC followed by a residual pressure valve. I added a residual pressure valve to the front line as well. I would think you should do the same thing. The power assist will require a vacuum connection and you should be set to go. Be sure none of the lines are kinked, leak or are rubbing against anything. Good Luck.|

Yeah, I have disks on the front but I was also going to do some head work and new cam later this summer, I know a cam will effect vacume, how much vacume do I need for power brakes and where does the porportioning valve go? Does it just regulate the front brakes or both front and rear?

|irocz8868||you would need to hook your vacume line directly to a port on your intake. the brake booster needs lots of vacume to operate. you will need to install a porportioning valve, but i've never installed a power brake system unless i changed the front drum brake system to disc. do you have drum or disc on your truck now? if you don't i would recommend changing to disc brakes on the front so you would have proper braking.|

Manual to power brake conversion
On my old 65 ford pickup the master cylinder is leaking on the floor behind the brake pedal, so I figured if I was already changing it I might as well go to the junk yard and pick up a power one out of a early 70s truck. So here is my question, where is the best place to hook up the vacume line on the 455 pontiac I got in there and do I need a porportioning valve. Would I have any other problems with this conversion.
