|BOBCRMAN@aol.com||Have "short filled" a few and never had a cooling issue. Last one was a 406 sbc in my S-truck. Salvaged a good 400 block that had a crack in lifter valley.|

|stymie||I did it on a 2 bolt that I went to 4 bolt billet caps on. Figured it would be a good Idea being Its got around 500 hp and I run it hard at the track every once in awhile. I only did it after talking to several people. The consensus was it wouldnt effect the cooling at all, that 90 percent of your heat and cooling is in your heads. Well being in Tucson Az were it gets up to 110 on a regular basis I havent had any cooling problems whatsoever. But keep in mind I have alluminum heads and radiator and a huge electric fan.|

|dirtracerx||It would actually be going in a circle track engine. Short races usually with lots of slow caution laps. I don't have a fan either. I have an electric fan that I switch on during cautions. Engine runs on methanol. Has a 195 thermostat. It never gets up to temperature until I run the feature event with more laps. Wanted to strengthen the bores and get better/more even cooling/heating. Thought that this might do the trick. Plan on putting it in a 4 bolt main 383 stroker for next season. Have a .020 over 010 block that I plan on using.|

hard block is lighter ten cement,i have done this on a cracked 5.0 block but i would say it was not quite half filled.as long as your not sitting in dead stoped traffic for an hour you will be ok.
what is your set up before i say that?
it helps stenghten the block but i did it for other reasons, other then that it was on truck pullin engines big block chevy and they were completly filled heads and all.they made about 2200-2500hp.
i would not do it just for a street rod

sbc block fill
Has anyone tried a 1/2 block fill for street rod? Any cooling issues? How much weight does it add? Pros and cons?
