93 octane, K&N Air Filter.....lol....those are cheap....what all has been done to your motor i need more info i dont wanna list stuff you've already done
in that case, im just gonna list stuff, headers - $200, vortec heads -$450 max (if the motor is chevy), cam - $250, roller rockers - $200-500 and the list goes on and on theirs tons of stuff, what kind of exhuast system is being put on it? and what type of vehicle and engine is it?
its not a chevy for dang sure its a nissan maxima(3.0 v6)..lol but im just tryin to fix it up and dont kno much about motors like this and im still learnin new stuff about it everyday. And im gettin flowmaster 60 series and a racing cat.
Low shot of nitrous in that case. Not too much you can do to that engine for cheap. What people do with those four bangers or small v6 is turbos but that is out your price range. Nitrous is the option for your set up. Fuel injectors can get expensive so I dont think that is an option but you need engine mods to increase injector size/lbs. Stock motor you will just kill mpg and flood if you go crazy on injector size. All the little bolt ons wont really get you anywhere besides making your car sound like a chainsaw with that exhaust.

More octane won't increase power unless you have the compression to warrant it.
Maximas are pretty well-tuned from the factory. Its not like a chevy from 1970 that can use some much needed help from modern parts. The Maxima IS a modern part more or less.
Expect 1-2 hp from the flowmaster and 0 from the cat. The cat on your Maxima isn't a restriction especially at the power levels that engine is designed for. The best thing you can do for that engine is some forced induction, and I include nitrous as one of those options. Compression is already high enough, head flow is fine, and camming it up really isn't an option since it will kill what little low end torque it has. Aftermarket parts are limited to external bolt ons that don't work, like air filters, tornados, and fuel magnets. You could spend $2000 on underdrive pulleys, K&N filters, and a cold air induction and get 5 hp, or you could spend $500 on nitrous and get 100 hp.
If the engine is installed in a Maxima, don't go nuts. First of all its wrong-wheel-drive and you'll be fighting the steering wheel and traction. Second of all, adding lots of hp will snap those axle shafts like a toothpick.
there are aftermarket superchargers and someone here has turbo'd a max so they might be able to offer help.
My wife has a maxima, the only thing you can do for that motor is help it breath. If you had a little more money to spend I would say get a stroker kit for it. The best thing for you to do with that $500 is put it down on an 02 or newer with the 3.5L. HP jumps from 222 to 268 with the extra .5 liter. The 3.0 is a pretty torque strong motor itself but the extra horses on the 3.5 really help the upper end. If I were you I would get a cold air intake. Not one of the crappy ones from autozone, get one designed for that motor. go to ebay and type in NISMO

Actually a flowmaster sounds real mellow and deep on pretty much anything that I've tried.
My DD is a 88 Mercury Tracer (wow!) with a 1.6L Mazda 4. A friend gave me a Flowmaster and the car had no muffler at the time. Presto! I fabbed up the rest of the exhaust to go with. It's real mellow sounding- not AT ALL like those stupid glass pack "performance" polished, overpriced, look-at-my-POS that can fly with my "cool" wing, mufflers!
