Viscosity of oil is more determined by ambient temps and internal tolerances at the bearings. Power levels have little to do with it. If you have the right oil in the right clearance, thickening it won't add protection, it will just make it harder for the oil to get there to protect.
Unless you went with really loose tolerances, 10w30.

20w50 or 10w30?
I have a 408 engine producing about 500 to the flywheel, and 200 shot on top of that (only at the track) running 93 octane, engine temp chills at 190ish, engine is not filled with cement. Right now for break in I have 20w50 synthetic (which was put in by my mechanic), should I switch to 10w30 or keep the 20w50? I also have a roller hydraulic cam, high volume oil pump, and true roller rockers.
