So what is the cheap, but good option for disk brakes for the '28 ford spindles?

Any junkyard parts fit?

Anyone make Wilwood brackets or anything cool?

thanks

Your question is hard to understand. If you are looking to build your own caliper mounts for GM brakes on a 39 Ford spindle here is a link, click on brake caliper adapter :

Oh Sorry...
I have the '28-'48 for spindles grafted onto my '29 dodge front axle and am looking for how to adapt disk brakes. I hoping to take a rotor off a production car and maybe change bearings and fit it to the 28 spindles.

I know I can buy a kit from speedway, but I'm on a tight budget and am looking to see if there is a cheaper way.

From the link it looks like a bearing spacer is needed, so thats going to rule out me building it!
unless there are other choices?

Model A spindles are weaker than the 37 to 48 models ... that WHY nobody uses them or makes brake kits for them ... :(

You need to upgrade to stronger spindles ... brakes and brake parts are NOT the place to cut corners and save a few bucks ... just my nickel ...

Well the complete kit...everything you need, including all new bearings, races, seals, new rotors, re-built calipers, new pads, all mounting hardware, caliper brackets and bushings etc. is really not high....294 bucks. The basic kit you supply the rotors , pads, and calipers etc. are 134 bucks. The best deal in my opinion is to go with the complete kit. This kit will only work if you already have the 37-48 Ford type hubs installed on your axle. Two things to never cut corners on...brakes and steering.

OK, So I have the 28 spindles already, whats required to update to the 37-48 spindles?

Do they use the same kingpins??
And I'm not against spending money where necessary, just against it when not necessary!

Have you talked to Speedway Motors yet???? They have all of your answers.
