jimfulco Large-journal generally means the same size as a 350 crank. Yours is bigger than that.

DoubleVision Your crank is a 400 crank. I don`t know if that number just wasn`t used very often or whatever, but there are others out there online that have the same number on there 400 cranks. Look on the flywheel mounting flange of the crank, if it has a dowel pin I`d say the odds are better, the 400 is the only small block chevy crank I ever seen that used a dowel pin.

camaroboy1991 the guy who gave it to me told me it was a 400 and he said he had it turned a number of years ago he said it was trurned 10

junior stocker Time to measure the main journals; 2.65 for 400; 2.45 for 350,late 327,307,305,late 302,267,262; 2.30 for early 327,283,265; not getting into Gen II or III. That's assuming it' Chevrolet with your 400 casting #. Any notes on the crank that it's been turned before?

crank casting #

ok i'm stumped i was given this crank today and it has gm stamped into it so i know it's a gm but i can't find the casting # anywhere i checked all the lists but the closest i can find is 3951529 which is a 400 crank and the casting number on the crank i have is 3951528 and it's be double checked by over a dozen people cause i thought i was reading it wrong cause it's only off by the last # but everybody agreed it's an 8 and not a 9 does anyone have any ideas?
