Deano54 I am installing a 454 in my 54 too, was wondering if you had to do anything to your firewall to make room for the distributor? I have a recessed firewall to install but I mocked it up and it looked like I needed to move it back a few inches still, any thoughts?

Nice looking setup!

Although not the same animal - I bought some Sanderson Cast Headers for my 454 install in my 49 Hudson - these really help when clearances are tight and actually fit tighter against the block.

Very nice!

I couldn't help but notice that you have plugged your by-pass hose connection on your intake ...
Why?

1952_Chevy_Panel My dad has a 454/TH400 in his 54 panel. We clipped it using a 79 camaro clip. Definitely have to modify your inner fenders to clear everything.

Centerline I have a PRC aluminum radiator made specifically for the AD trucks. As you can see the truck has A/C and a separate trans cooler.

I'm also using a home made shroud and mechanical fan. Haven't made the decision yet but I might go to an electrical fan next year.

Mine has a Mustang II IFS which gives me more room for steering since it uses a rack instead of a big box.

As you can see the hemi completely fills the engine bay so I needed all the space I could get for steering.

Running headers out the sides behind the front wheels (gasser style) will require a lot of fabrication but can be done. I used stock high performance manifolds simply because I had them. Could have used block huggers but it's not a race truck so I saw no need to go that route.

chevy53 What kind of radiator is in the the truck to cool the hemi? I have the radiator for the 454 w/trany cooler I will be attempting to fab into place. There is plenty of room for the motor its all the other stuff Im thinkig about like steering, radiator, how far back to move motor, and how to route the headers/exhust. Id like to route the exhaust it right out of the side so I can dump it into those annoying imports i plan on blowing the doors off of.

Centerline Well one things for sure, you know it will fit. I put a hemi in my '53 3100.

I have a 1954 with a 283 and my steering box is very close. I am going to pull my 283 out sunday. i am going to paint my fire wall and redo my motor supports they are solid no rubber. I am going to put a new truck independent front suspension, that i found on this web site.( the plans not the front end) After that if i find a good 454 I will put that in or put the 283 back in till I fine one.I will reply if i do it first. you tell me if you do it first.

454 going into my 53 3100

I just picked up a 454 out of an 88 2500 . I will be stuffing it into my 1953 chevy 3100 pickup as soon I pull the 283 w/ th350 out. Has anyone done this before? Im looking to see if there are any tricks that may come in handy. I'll be taking pics as I go along.
