short or long ??

this is all good info due to my not messin round with engines and just Hot Roddin in general for a long time. It's funny how much of the little stuff you forget.

T-bucket23 You need to be careful with your timing cover selection as the short pump leaves little room for a thicker timing cover. A lot of the aluminum ones or multi piece ones wont fit with a short pump.

The short pump was standard on the SBC until the late 60's. By 1969 ... most all were long except the Corvette and later the V8 Monzas. Most model early Hot Rods use the short pump. The long one is just too long to fit on a SBC in a 20's to 40's street rod. There are a LOT of dress up pulleys and brackets for SBC's using the short pump.

short or long ??

I am looking at lots of parts for rebuilding my 350 small block, but am finding issues with some of the bolt on things. What is the measurement for a short water pump and a long water pump? I looked at mine now and from block to front of pulley hub was apx 6 inches. HELP!!! Please
