you know, that explains why parts of the hood crinkle like saran wrap, and other parts seem to show daylight right through!
Sheesh how am I going to explain this to the guy who made this hood for me, now that I need another one. Gee Dave, I block sanded through that carbon fiber that you put in the hood for more strength and lighter weight.
...and that extra full length steel rib you put in for each hinge, so the hood wouldn't warp, they're gone... nada... sanded right through them!!
He's gonna say, yep... you shouldn't outta have tried fitting and block sanding my fiberglass... shouldda left it warped and bad fitting... that'll teach you!

Blocking and filling underside of hood and trunk, I hope it is worth it.
It seems like it is taking ages to block and fill the undersides of the hood and trunk.
The fiberglass for these mustangs is typically very bad on the outside and nasty on the inside.
The trunk took quite a while, the hood even longer. There was a lot of chopped and rough glass mat and resin to block through, so I could minimize the filler.
The idea I had was to do a mural on the inside of the hood and a smaller one on the underside of the trunk, in the future.
The good thing is that I am getting really good at dealing with pinholes, as there's a lot in the raw areas of the fiberglass. The bad thing, is that it has taken the best part of two months of intermitant nights.
I just hope that when it is all painted I will open up the hood and smile
