techinspector1 Use steel wool and motor oil. It won't scratch the part like sandpaper will.

Rust on Piston Pin!!

Hey guys I have finally gotten around to putting my 383 SBC together. I bought an entire brand new rotating assembly about a year ago and had it stored inside. I have just started putting it together this week and low and behold..... RUST!! It doesn't look like a major concern but about 4 of my piston pins have very very minor surface rust spots on them. I have used very fine emery cloth and solvent to sand these small rust spots smooth. I can run my finger nail down all of the spots and it won't catch so I think it isn't a big problem and I am just overeacting. Please let me know if it is a concern or not, keeping in mind that my finger nail won't even catch on these spots now.

Thanks,
Keith
