I know there are alot of ''chop'' threads and questions, but... I'd like to know if anyone has chopped a "48 Dodge 4dr post " with suicide doors,. I did a pick up once , so I know the basics. Question is, with the center door posts, I'm assuming the top can't can't be shifted ???

Before you get too excited check out the tru-kool radiators from speedway motors..and just run an accessory cooler for the trans..those can be bigger than the stock ones any way..that is what I have decided to do with mine..

'48 Dodge & '85 318

Installing inner front fenders to check the clearance around this engine , and of course it don't fit any more , so will require some modifying... For example..power steering hose... I can make the original hose from the '85 work, by twisting it and tying it in a knot, but looks like 'crap' . Question : can I find a factory hose from something, that will fit this application ? I don't want to get one custom made, as then if it breaks down on the road somewhere , can't just go into a parts store and get one.

The other option is to go to a "real" parts house like a NAPA and ask to see the power steering hose book. There is usually a photo section that will show you the different pressure hoses. It might take a bit of hunting to find one that is correct but you should be able to come up with one that comes close.

I do have to agree that a custom hose will work just fine and the chances of failure are slim.

most pressure hoses just have a slow seepage if they leak unless they have something rub them or get against something hot.
Now I need to go back and see what your are using for a pump and steering box.

I am using everything I can from a '85 5th Ave. The 318 and tranny, rear axle ,front suspension (volare style) electric seats and windows ( I hope) Power steering gear and pump, also, . had to modify pump barckets to move it in closer to block to clear the steering gear box. Today modifying the inner fenders to clear alternator on the right, steering sector on the left.

Moving to the rear of the car now, putting the rear axle in from the '85 ,using the springs and mounts from the '48,. the '48 had a stablizer (panhard bar) from the frame to the axle which I'm using. Also it had a swaybar under the front. As the '85 with the volare style suspension has a swaybar included, I'd like to add this 'extra' bar to the rear axle. Is there anything special I need to know sintalling this ? Or maybe some help making some brackets ? How to mount this to the floor or trunk floor ? or Frame ?

Back to the front; making brackets to install radiator and fan. Using radiator from ' Ford Explorer and electric fan from a Buick : They fit pretty good, only the water outlets are opposite. New Question ............what can I make the waterpipe (to go across the motor) out of ? Also the bottom one will have to go behind the damper pulley. Conduit ? Exhaust pipe ?

I lost a picture in here somewhere , but anyway, now I got the the rad, from the Ford Explorer, condenser from the '85 5th Ave, and a oil cooler for tranny all mounted and connected . Question now is.... if the four blade Buick eclectric fan is big enough ?? Any thoughts ??

wiring diagram for "85 Chry 5th Ave

Today I'm working with the dash and it's componets. New problem : I need to install the wiper motor from the '85 into this '48. First I need to run the motor to watch it linkage travel. I need the wiring diagram for the motor, so I can 'hotwire' it to get it run. Where can I get the diagrams?............thanks

gas tank and hangers today, moving tank over to allow more room for duels. repairing the tank itself, inside and out. Question ; will epoxy primer ( Nason by Dupont) work to line and seal the inside of the tank? I have some left over from the body work, the tank already has had the "ospho'' treatment inside. Will the epoxy primer bond to the treated inside of the tank ?
