I'm in the middle of doing one of those S-10/Advance Design Chevrolet creations.
Here is the way the truck sits now. Wheels are 20" Centerlines.
Here are my crazy assed headers. Building these things was a royal pain in the ***!
The brake booster complicated things.
The rear tube couldn't go up and over due to the column and the booster..........so it goes DOWN and makes a full loop before joining up with the other tubes!
I am not 100% on running the seats out of the jaguar xjs donor.
We recycled the original column and wheel. Not 100% sure what is going to happen with the dash either. S-10 pedal assy has been cleaned up, trans tunnel started, floors started
I'm proud of my column drop. Pedal assembly welds will get finished when it comes time to paint. From the driver seat, you cant see the bracket that holds the pedal.
The big headers and big pipes sound killer. It idles about like a pro-stocker. A little on the loud side, but I'm gonna try it as is (well, maybe put turndowns on the mufflers).
At first I wasn't to crazy about the wheel choice, but every time I see a new photo I like it more and more. I can only imagine what the finished product will look like. I am pretty sure it is going to be one ****** ride.
Me too, I dislike them less now than at first. I like the stance, your work is great but the wood just doesn't trip the light fantastic for me. I'm just not a flatbed fan.
also nice job on the truck so far man. you and your dad do alsume work. what color are you gonna paint it? gold base with marbelized candy red would be killer! or maybe candy red with rip metal u should have tuck and rolled the seat, door panels, and roof liner sorta like the old Kustom guitar amps
if you dig up some of the original chevrolet sales advertisements it will use ADANCED DESIGN(47'-55' 1st) and TASK FORCE(55'-59') in it. the pre 47' trucks were refered to as ART DECO. the mysteries of sales.

I finally thought to take some pictures of the painted dash
....and the second "dash" (ignition, headlight switch, wiper switch and dimmer are in the seat base)
....painted and switches installed.
Oh yeah, wiring is a pain in the butt!!!! I used an EZ harness. It would have been easier if I mounted the panel on the firewall....like they suggested, instead of under the seat. I had to "adjust" darn near every wire to make it work that way.
Great prroject i just caught wind of this! really unique and the more i read it the more i liked it Why because your building it the way youuuuu want it good for you !
Im in the process of bulding a 48 aswell a Fleetline pro street with alot of subtle mods its still in mock up but getting close to comming back off the frame soon heres a few pics.
Again great project and good luck!
aha, okay, found the jalopy journal stuff. Yea, "hokey ash" wouldn't do for a section title here. We're more family friendly, but let sailors speak as sailors do (they curse a lot). There's more important things in life to worry about (getting a president that a) cares about the middle class and b) does something about it, for example)
the tech info on the hamb i have found is pretty good overall. i personally enjoy a handfull of forums because at times staying on just one gets boring. i'm not really a "traditional hot rodder" really because i usually enjoy most kinds of vehicles

I'm a member of a Jeep forum, two XJ/MJ (Cherokee and Comanche pickup) forums, two AMC forums, and two Kawasaki motorcycle forums. There's others, but I don't frequent those too often... turbocharged Saturns and GrandAms <sure they're nice, but I guess that's what we get for 383 'Cudas and 327 Impalas. Sucks in comparison.
Yeah, the Rust is staying. The truck is too far gone to paint.
