Yes.... the displacment is the same but there is alot of benifit to having a longer rod there. You did the right thing putting in the 5.7 Rod.
You won't regret it.... My 406 went 11.60's on pump gas through the mufflers on Dot's. In a 89 Camaro.
Now my V6 go's 10's but who's counting...

|DoubleVision||Nope, the lenth of the rod has no effect on the stroke depth, only the crank does. When you have the same bore and stroke you have the same cubic inches. You increased the bore size so you picked up about 5 cubic inches, but the lenth of the rod has no effect, the stroke of the crank stays the same regardless of the rod lenth.|

i'm confused on what i really have .i rebuilt a sbc 400.i bored it .30 over put 5.7 cam clearing rods in with a 400 crank .now does this make it 406 or ?
