pmeisel Assume the engine will need work -- but don't let that keep you away if the "work adjusted" price is fair. Those engines were pretty strong and a new gasket (or even a new head and new gasket, had to do that on my 300 after I overheated it and cracked it) will make it good for quite a while.

woodz428 I would have to agree with the comment regarding a "periodicly" leaking head gasket. Never seen one. Maybe it leaks periodicly like when the engine is running and doesn't when it is setting without coolant.

ap72 yep, you're gonna need to have the head milled and put on a new gasket- not really a huge ordeal and can usually easily be done with the engine in the car.

OneMoreTime From the tech point it may require the head to be pulled and resurfaced and replace the gasket and you are good to go..When buying race cars as an altered is... condition of the car is part of the negotiation.

Really comes down to do you want it or do you not..

DoubleVision It would me, as I would think it would only be a matter of time before the gasket blows the rest of the way. But then again, can't say I ever heard one leaking "periodically"

I'm interested in and 23 T altered with a 300 in it. However the owner tells me that the head gasket leaks periodically. Is this a concern.
