The 'Hot Cam " offered by Chevrolet is a much better camshaft ... IMHO if you are planning on buying a camshaft. Not really a lumpy cam ... but worth 25 more horsepower than a ZZ4 camshaft.

Lots of ZZ4 owners have upgraded to the " Hot Cam " with good results.

The GM ZZ4 "hot cam" has more lift and more duration and is designed to work with 1.6 ratio rocker arms which add a little more lift. As an example the GM Parts Performance Fastburn 350 is rated at 385hp. Simply adding the "hot cam" kit raises the hp to 430.

Actually there is no such thing as a ZZ4 hotcam, teh GM cam that is designed for 1.6 rockers is the LT4 HOTCAM with 218°/228° on a 112°LSA with .492"/.492? with 1.5's rockers or .525"/.525" with 1.6's.

The 385 hp Fastburn 350 uses 1.5 rockers with teh ZZ4 cam (208°/221° .474"/.510" lift on a 112°LSA) then adding 1.6:1 rockers AND teh LT4 Hotcam brings the Fasburn 385 up to teh ZZ430 numbers of 430 hp.
