Hi,like you know im building my 350 TPI engine all over .030 bored
any of you has used the ZZ4 Cam ?
i did a search but didnt find experiences with it.....
any dramatic changes ?
its not much over the stock one
Here are the specs :
good,i don't care for the lumpy idle
how much improvement should i expect ?
or what does it feel ?
sorry about so many questions
im just eager to test it !
thanx
The 'Hot Cam " offered by Chevrolet is a much better camshaft ... IMHO if you are planning on buying a camshaft. Not really a lumpy cam ... but worth 25 more horsepower than a ZZ4 camshaft.
Lots of ZZ4 owners have upgraded to the " Hot Cam " with good results.
I already have the ZZ4 right here
i didnt want the Hot cam because it read that my computer will need a retune
and the ZZ4 its a bolt on ...
whats the difference between the ZZ4 and the HOT CAM ?
Thanx
The GM ZZ4 "hot cam" has more lift and more duration and is designed to work with 1.6 ratio rocker arms which add a little more lift. As an example the GM Parts Performance Fastburn 350 is rated at 385hp. Simply adding the "hot cam" kit raises the hp to 430.
thats a lot
how much power the ZZ4 do you think will add to my stock L98 ?
Stock its rated :
Horsepower 240 hp @ 4,000 rpm
Torque 345 lb-ft @ 3,200 rpm
i also got zz4 springs (but in blue) and zz4 stock rocker arms (non roller)
thanx

Actually there is no such thing as a ZZ4 hotcam, teh GM cam that is designed for 1.6 rockers is the LT4 HOTCAM with 218°/228° on a 112°LSA with .492"/.492? with 1.5's rockers or .525"/.525" with 1.6's.
The 385 hp Fastburn 350 uses 1.5 rockers with teh ZZ4 cam (208°/221° .474"/.510" lift on a 112°LSA) then adding 1.6:1 rockers AND teh LT4 Hotcam brings the Fasburn 385 up to teh ZZ430 numbers of 430 hp.
peace
