It's a 7 yea old thread....you may want to start your own thread to ask the question and get more results.

The Blazer frame is basically the same as the S-10 frame, they are both S platform trucks, about the only difference is where the gas tank is mounted and where the spare tire is carried.

Challenger-Red 2manytoocount/ You sound like me, I don't buy anything I can build. I was a certified welder and have a 30x60 shop full of tools. My question was about the S10 Blazer Frame. Can it be used or not?

Frame Swaps

Hey Guys, I am new at this but I to plan on using a S10 Frame but I have a question? Has anyone ever used a Blazer frame. I plan on buying a 2000 Blazer that is running and using all of it if I can. I want the complete set up, air, auto, PS, PB, PW, Tilt and cruise. I plan on taking everything I can and putting in my 1950 3100. Then I am going to sell my 1950 running gear to help offset the cost. I just thought I would ask about the Blazer Frame. Any help would be appreciated, John from Alabama

Layitout My buddy did a89 s10 swap, and made it a daily For his son in one month, spent less than 3 Grand altogether

you might try a old jeep truck frame go to classic cars they built a frame for the truck they restored last year

Hi There, I Have A 1950 As Well And I Put A Camaro Front Clip On Ifs, Front Steer So Its 2nd Gen. Fully Boxed As Well. Like Other Replies I Read Based On Your Question, I Have To Say If You Have Access To A Frame Bench Or Are Capable Of Building Jig For Your Frame To Do The Work Along With Welding Experience, You Can Look Up Specs. And Probably Get Away With Doing It Your Self, How Else Do You Learn. Good Luck And Write If You Have Any Other Questions.

Stevekantercool 20 years ago I put a 1950 three window Chevrolet truck cab, bed, fenders,etc. on a 1983 Chevrolet short bed 1/2 ton truck frame. I had all the modern systems (suspension, steering, brakes, frame, and more). Remarkable, the dimensions of the 1950 truck and the 1983 truck were very close. I did have to weld on running board supports, and some other fabrication was needed, but overall it was a very simple swap with great results. The truck still runs and handles great, and repair parts are still readily available when needed.

I'm not really in favor of the S-10 frame swap because I think it's not beefy enough. That being said, I have many friends who like and have used the S-10 frame on many different projects, including trucks, without any problems.

The set up works well except that the front overall width from rotor to rotor is wider than stock. if you are lowering, you will have a real bear finding tires and rims that will fit in the fenders. Use a mustang 2 set up or get the shortened A arms from Fatman Fabricators. I wish I had, but with a lot of time looking for rims and tires, i just barely got my tires under the fenders. narrow rims and tires. works for me

OneDropTop72 Countilaw thanks so much for the pictures looks like a clean installation.
You are right the kit does look very professional and the cab mounts are completely different than the cheesy AD kit no bare metal here ,and parts look more beefier than I imagined looks real good, also the front bumper and radiator support attaches to the frame horns should make aligning the fenders and hood a snap,
You did say the kit has a master cylinder mount for the firewall I wonder if the original brake booster can be kept. my S10 is a 2004 the truck is complete I haven’t taken it apart yet, there is a whole lot going on with the antilock brakes I stop counting the brake lines running from the manifold sitting atop the steering column they look real busy, these brakes work great now” again this kit seems to be constructed very well and no doubt it will be my choice I have two more of these Old Navy trucks to do” I have purchased a 89 frame with no engine and plan on dropping a 383 in the next conversion but as for this truck I want to keep every thing, the V6 and A/C and antilock brakes” send some more pictures when you have time

Countilaw Here is a pic of the kit on my S-10 frame.
These are just the cab, box and radiator support bracket on the frame. There are alot more parts in the kit. Even plates to smooth the firewall and adapt the S-10 brake booster, master cylinder and pedals to the firewall. It's really a nice kit.

You are the first person who has used this kit" I've been checking and it looks like $1600,00 after the steering kit is thrown in, I think I'll contact EZ swap tomorrow and talk with them on the do,s and dont's thank for that Information, I've done fab work before and there is a lots of trail fitting that can become a real pain in the you know what "I would like to have this baby on the streets by next spring I'll be looking for you for pointers when I start the conversion"
