Hello guys,

I have bought a 540 BBC short bolck with a lot of goodies

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/e...1411962%09&category0=&fvi=1&item=110201411962

and would like to implant a the fuel injection of Vortec 7400 / 454cid:

http://jobyteknik.homeip.net/pickup/2005-11-08_454/ (did not find a better source)

I know a guy who sells the a Vortec 7400 injection system (I think the name is MPFI) and he told me that he knows that the swap would work as he got another one also installed on a mark IV BBC.

Otherwise I have been told that the that engine (should actually a gen 6)
got already that peanut ports.
If that is not true please tell me what intake ports that engine got, rectangular, oval...

What else would I need except the.

1, Plenum

2, Harness

3, Computer

4, probably the stock fuel pump or one with the right preassure

5, Injectors

6, Fuel rails

What sensors are included,?

Can I convert the distributor to a cam trigger working with the Vortec EFI?

What hints would you give me for that swap?

Any help appreciated

Kind regards

Hannes

I think you will have to upgrade your injectors and reprogram the computer or do a lot of tuning to the fuel system anyways so just buy the system from an aftermarket company and bolt it in.

2nd...is everyone in austria named Hannes? Or just everyone I know from there.

3rd it is not that interesting of a topic. Not any more so than all the other topics on here anyways

Thanks Guys, I really look forward to that discussion.

First, sorry, I dont know why my second post to that threat is posted 3 times, but sorry for it again ;)

Ok, @Double_v23

Yes of course, the injectores will have to be increased, I think 90´injectores (have been told so) are the right ones since I want to go with twin 76mm turbos.

Harness is to convert to stand alone form and the computer is to re-flash.

The aftermarket EFI´s are made to get out the max performance but a Vortec EFI is made for milage (one liter of gas is around 2,20$ in Austria)

How many Austrians are you knowing, I think you know those:

Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart

Sigmund Freud

Arnold Schwarzenegger

Dietrich Mateschiz (Red Bull-owner)

Adolf Hitler

which one is named Hannes too?

The sensors of the Vortec 7400 should match the BBC Mark IV as the short block is the same and the Intake would also fit but I go with a selfmade intake.

I would go with the 2000 Vortec 7400 model as it got the coil near plug ignition and I think also the crank trigger.

Thanks so far for the answers

:welcome: Hannes :welcome:
